What are organic products?
Today consumers are conscious of the importance of quality of food that they eat. Their suspicious are logical because of the little information they have about the products they usually consume. Making of these products is trying to be cheaper saving money in workmen and raw material. Do consumers really know what are they buying in supermarkets?
Utilization of preservatives ( to make the life of products longer), colourings ( to change the authentic colour of products and make them more attractive) and chemical additives (to hide the natural taste of the food) is common these days. We have to add the use of pesticides, plaguicides, and the proliferation of transgenics.
The origin of biological agriculture is in consumer’s interest, who were worried about their heath and the environment. Nowadays it is not a choice for minorities.
Each day the number of farmers who trust on biological products increase. And we are not speaking about little familiar gardens, but about big plantations where farmers take all kinds of cares about the crops, for example:
- no use of chemical products (plaguicides, herbicides or fertilizers). They only can use them in case of clear danger of plagues and diseases.
- Recycle organics raw, use only natural fertilizer and establish a of crops.
- No use genetics species.
- Natural control of parasites, diseases and weed.
European Union have published a regulation about the organic agriculture (CEE 2092/91) and CPAEN (Council for organic agricultural production of Navarre) is the institution in charge of testing and certifying this making process only with organic products. CPAEN gives a logotype to the companies which pass all its controls and we can use it.
